Sea Lions

Sometimes I love living where I do.  Today we were heading home and saw a ton of Sea Lions playing.  Not sure why they are so close to the island, usually we only see them in this close when the herring are in, and it is too early for that.  So I had my hubby drop me off to snap a few pics while he drove the kids around.  Normally I would have dragged them down to the beach with me, but Lil is sick and Ry was in need of a nap.  I missed the whale that was bobbing around because I was so tuned into the Sea Lions, I only saw him come up towards the end, hopefully next time I will get the whale too!  So I hope you enjoy these pics, I sure had fun watching them, even with the wind and light mist of rain.

love the teeth

Check out all the birds!

Halibut Dip

Whipped up this yummy halibut and dilled beach asparagus (Salicornia virginica) dip this week and the kids and I are loving it!  I will post how to jar the halibut and the beach asparagus when I do it again, so that I can post instructions with pictures!  I took the Halibut, some chopped up dilled beach greens (you could use dill pickles), Mayonnaise, some salt, pepper, and lemon pepper and dumped it all in a bowl.  Mixed with hand mixer and had a yummy, easy fast spread.

we ate it with crackers and bread :)

Hello

I just turned 33 and since this has been on my to do list for a while I figured now is as good a time as any to start a blog. I am a stay at home mom raising two rambunctious children. We live on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. It is a temperate rain forest which translates to a LOT of rain and wind, which leads to numerous days spent inside. I will try to blog about our craft projects, adventures and life in a remote village. I just got a cricut so I am giving a warning that there will be quite a few posts about crafts we have done with it to start with. Hope you enjoy and welcome to my life :)
